I. Applications by compressor types
1. Screw compressors
- Application scenarios: Large industrial refrigeration systems (such as chemical cooling, food quick-freezing, natural gas liquefaction), commercial cold storage, central air-conditioning chiller units.
- Type of refrigeration oil: Mainly synthetic hydrocarbon (PAO), ester (POE) or polyether (PAG) oils, which need to have high viscosity, excellent thermal stability and compatibility with refrigerants.
2. Reciprocating (piston) compressors
- Application Scenarios: Domestic refrigerators/freezers, small commercial cold rooms, automobile air conditioners, early commercial refrigeration equipment.
- Refrigeration oil type: Mineral oil (R22 system) or ester oil (new refrigerant system such as R410A), requiring low pour point (below -55°C) and good sealing.
3. Scroll compressor
- Application Scenario: Domestic and light commercial air-conditioning and heat pump systems.
- Refrigeration oil type: POE (ester) or PVE (ether) synthetic oil, highly compatible with HFC refrigerants (e.g. R410A, R134a) and anti-wear properties are required.
4. Centrifugal compressor
- Application scenario: Large building central air conditioning, industrial chiller.
- Refrigerant oil type: High viscosity synthetic oil (e.g. polyether), used for lubricating high-speed bearings and gears, needs to be resistant to high temperature and high pressure.
5. Rotary compressor
- Application Scenario: Household air-conditioner, small inverter multi-connected machine.
- Type of refrigeration oil: POE or PVE synthetic oil, suitable for inverter wide frequency operation (e.g. 8-160Hz), need to take into account the low-temperature start-up and high-frequency heat resistance.
II. Applications by refrigerant types
- Ammonia (NH₃) system: Special synthetic hydrocarbon oil (e.g. Great Wall 4521) is required, low acid value, anti-ammonia reactivity, avoiding the generation of precipitation.
- Hydrocarbon refrigerants (propane, ethylene): Suitable for PAO synthetic oil (such as Great Wall 4522), emphasizing the dissolution and separation characteristics with light hydrocarbons.
- HFC refrigerants (R410A, R134a): Must use synthetic oils such as POE/PVE, incompatible with mineral oil.
